About EFFA.
EFFA is more than a film festival, we’re a catalyst for positive and sustainable change…
Environmental Film Festival Australia, est. 2010.
Environmental Film Festival Australia (EFFA) is a volunteer community group, based in Naarm (Melbourne), that prioritises climate and environments through film, providing platforms for artists to showcase their work and spaces for people to connect and exchange ideas and solutions.
Across 2024 and 2025, you’re invited to join us for a series of pop-up ‘EFFA presents’ screenings. If you’d like to be the first to hear about our upcoming events, sign up to our newsletter.
Our program navigates the relationship between humans and their environments and interrogates the way people think about the natural world. We feature films from the world’s most talented and socially-conscious filmmakers, embracing diversity and championing local, Indigenous, minority and creative voices.
Topics explored include:
sustainability
Indigenous rights and stories
connection to Country
urban life
the awe of nature, flora and fauna
ecology
climate catastrophe
the interconnection between people and place.
We’ve been running since 2010, starting out as a weekend screening event in Palace Kino (as Environmental Film Festival Melbourne) and have since hosted festivals and events throughout Australia and online.
We also work with organisations and groups to host environmental film events of their own. If you’re interested in hosting a screening, please get in touch.
Keep up to date with our newsletter, Facebook and Instagram.
