EFFM ‘12.

4 - 9 September 2012

Kino Cinemas, Collins Place, Melbourne

EFFM is proud to be back for 2012. EFFM is a festival that presents confronting films about environmental issues, designed to make you think but also to lead to possible solutions.

Some films and issues include:

  • Cape Spin - about a wind farm project in the US

  • Chicken Karma - an Australian film about caged hens/eggs

  • Bimblebox - about mining in Queensland

  • Last Call At The Oasis - about the global water crisis.

This year’s program brings together some of the most thought provoking films from across the globe, covering topics from food and water to solar-powered cars and buildings designed to mimic the benefits of nature.

On top of the festival’s international focus, EFF also takes a serious look at the environmental issues that affect Australia, showcasing the premier of several homegrown movies, including Generation Green, a personal climate action story, and Bimblebox, an exploration of the expansion of coal mining in Queensland.

Prepare to be confronted, prepare to have to think, but most importantly of all, prepare to take action. These films present serious problems, but often provide simple answers. Sometimes all it takes is a change in mind-set and some political will, and if we can help generate that then our work here is done.
